Westfield engine options

Hello all.
I don't usually lurk in this forum, but a friend has a Westie with the venerable 1700 crossflow lump. A fine engine, but she's on her last legs.
He's looking at a replacement.
There's the usual 1800cc Zetec/Vauxhall lumps which are easy to fit and pretty powerful to boot.
We're also considering a Toyota 4A-GZE (1600cc Supercharged lump). About 200bhp with plenty of torque. Sounds like an interesting option, but we know of noone who has fitted this particular engine.
Anyone done this? Tricker than the standard Ford/VX route?
Any other options we could consider?
The westie has a Sierra box and rear axle I think. Escort brakes (which are going).

Surely the easiest option is to put another Xflow in?
It depends how mechanically proficient you are and how much time you want to waste, but in my experience swapping an engine for a different type is never as easy as it sounds.
The only useful advice I can give is to stick to the range of engines that you usually find in a Westie as a 'one-off' special will have limited resale value and no standard parts (or advice) will be available from Westfield.

If you're interested in the 4age then try contacting Raw Engineering as they specialise in it's fitment to various kitcars. I've no experience of them I've just seen the reviews & ads in the kitcar magazines. They've also taken on production of the Sylva Striker kits.

I also believe that Which Kit featured the 4age in their engine review a couple of months ago and KitCar have just completed a 2 part article about fitting the zetec in last months mag.

You may also want to check out Classic Ford, both the classifieds and the articles as lots of people are putting Zetecs in Escorts and the like. They can do it a lot cheaper than if you follow the racers route, ie raceline etc..... A company called retro fords suppliers all necessary for installing a zetec!
