New Model Chim
Discussion
I have a 2001 model 450.
I cant tell you if the handling etc has improved as I didnt have a TVR before this one.
IMO The interior looks nicer and all the dials etc seem to work fine and be perfectly calibrated. The jury is still out on the enclosed headlights, sometimes I like them and sometimes I think it robs a bit of the classic look away from the car. Something I noticed the other day was that it doesnt have exposed boot hinges like my neighbours S-Plate. Not sure if they are boot hinges on his mind!
On the whole though, impressed, love it and will be trading it up for a Tuscan or a Cerbera in 3 years!

Cheers Matt,
I too have an S plate Chim 500 with the exposed boot hinges but my mate has just bought a V reg. Chim 500 and they’re gone (well one less thing to polish).
However I bought mine second hand and while I love it, I’ve always wanted to buy a brand new TVR, built to my own spec. Now while I love the shape of the Tuscan and even the Tamora is growing on me the Nintendo Game Boy Speedo of the Tuscan and the Dash of the Tamora just doesn’t do it for me (I hate digital displays).
Now the Chim and the Cerby are beautiful cars and their interiors are the best going, so it will be one or the other, so I’m curious to see if the new Model Chim is much/any better than mine. So anyone else with experience of the two?

I had a P-Plate Cerbera 4.2 for about a week while my boss went on holiday.
Whilst I was treading very carefully with it I completely fell in love with the interior. I still think that its the best interior that has ever been placed inside a sports car, its functional and there is not one thing out of place.
If given the choice to buy a brand new Chim or Cerbera then it would be the Cerbera 4.5 in Chameleon Black with Black and Purple Leather every day of the week.
However thats not to say I dont love the Chim, its just I lust after the Cerbera.

So you’ve not been thinking too much about the Cerby then!
Have to agree it’s a beautiful car and I always take the opportunity to look at colour combinations (interior and exterior) on any model to see what looks good.
Word of warning with Chameleon/Reflex paints though, as during the Summer I has to get a bit of my front wing re-sprayed at P.R.Wood’s in Southend (who did a great job) and he told me that these paints can’t be blended i.e. if you want a front end done to get rid of stone chips then the whole car needs to be done and at £600 /ltr it’s bloody expensive, although on the whole if I saw a colour that looked fabulous I’d still get it done.

Performance was impressive, more power and different gear ratios - 5th only really used as overdrive - 2nd and 3rd are wonderful, just pulls and pulls with seemingly no effort. Slightly less refined than the Chimaera and not the lovely Rover V8 roar - but with a sports exhuast am told will sound the business!! You are right about the colours as they only last about four years before fading and needing to be resprayed - but what a colour !!
Love them both for different reasons!!
