Does anybody have replaced the wiring loom (harness) on a early Griffith ?

It seems the wiring loom is far better on the last model.

I presume it is quite expensive and time consuming ?

What other enhancement you recommend to foreseen simultaneoulsy ?

Many thanks in advance to share any experience in this field.

I have updated bits of my loom on the early Chim (loom had Griff labels on it anyway?). Basically:

Better quality cables for:
brown - battery / alt / fusebox
Pink - fans
Front lights.

Plenty of rerouting and collecting together good earthing points.

Going through connectors, replacing any dodgy connections, cleaning and sealing with grease. Similar required in fusebox.

There are bits of the loom that would be a nightmare to replace - like the section 'foamed in' the passenger footwell under the kick plate.

I would seriously advise enhancing your loom bit by bit rather than trying to use a later loom ~ all your fusebox would change, you need different connectors for the dash, do you want to install new dash face & instruments, TVR black boxes, new diff & gearbox... It can all get quite complicated. A spare loom can be handy to rob bots from tho wink

I'd keep schhhhtumm on colours if I was you Pasco, after the recent rash of comments likening certain cars to the contents of the poop & scoop bag tongue out

Pink is also used for the heated seats BTW!

Your sexual obsession with Primates @rses is getting the better of you again! I told you Viagra had serious side effects - you are divulging all your secret desires hehe

Thank God we have 'girlie' asses as opposed to the humongous ones which the Griff seats are subjected to tongue out

Fans can be uprated by removing one fan from the circuit, using a relay to take the second from the starter circuit(35-50 % increase in power). Also having the fans come on first at half speed will stop the fuse blowing. Lights, same principle, remove the drivers side from the circuit, gain 100 watts on full beam !! Windows, same priciple, use relays. Then starter solenoid, re-fit the relay that TVR by-passed, no more hot start problems or premature wearing of the solenoid contacts.
Rear lights can be increased also, side lights as well as converting to four tails and four brake lights, with central LED with brake also.Just a few things i have done.

Certainly on the early Griffs the looms are a spliced mixture of Vauxhall (steering column switchgear), Volkswagen (fusebox) and Range Rover (engine bay + some interior) with extra bits for lights etc.
Can you even get new looms?

As Spend suggests, it's much easier to replace piecemeal and thoroughly clean and grease all connectors, route sensibly etc. Adding a few relays here and there (fans, starter) is a good move too.
