smileOr in other words the used car market. I am in the process of selling my B.T. and its been on market for about 4 weeks. In that time I have only had one viewer, and that was today. Admit that the first two weeks the price was speculative and now its down to what it should sell for. But only one person thus far shown interest, this is the first time in years that I have not been able to sell my car within a few weeks and looking at the ad's I'm not alone.
Who else is in the same boat as me in our region?

My brother couldn't sell his '03 Corsa SRi, despite trying for a couple of months. He wasn't overly bothered, because he'd been given a reasonable price by Vauxhall as trade-in against his new car for when it was ready. They told him he was welcome to sell it beforehand if he could get more money, but it turns out he couldn't. Oh well smile

Good luck selling your car.

I'm not, but why are you selling? You only just bought it!

I think the internet, eBay etc has given everyone a sense of 'BARGIN' and driven prices down for everyone. People will spend hours surfing trying to save £1 on a plasma screen, camera etc - people only seem to want *cheap* these days. Bah mutter!

I never keep a car long and 12 months seems to be about average for me. I start off all enthusiastic and then tend to start a drift of interest into something else. Nothing wrong with the B.T. at all but I've now decided that a motorhome and trailer behind to tow about my Swallow or if its a non vintage do a modern micro car to tour some far off deserts hippy
I don't like the grass to grow under my feet and at my age I know that it may soon be growing above me.angel

Well I,m in the same boat as you David. The Vette has been on classified for weeks now with no interest, and its just had its first week in Auto Trader and no calls (2 weeks left). I,ve moved the price downwards a little, but I,m not going to let it go for some of the silly prices out there at the momment.

Looks like I,ll be putting the C5 Vette on hold for a while. frown

Ian, have you tried the following web sites to place an ad'?

www.carandclassic.co.uk

www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk

As a private advertiser you could put your car on free of charge, just like on here. Good luck.

Again things such as Ebay are driving prices down!

I know a guy selling a mint 147 GTA who's dropped over a grand and still not a sniff!

& his car has to be one of the best out there!

Then that's the time to snap them all up and hold until the market picks up :-)

Good in theory John, but most sellers, like Ian and myself, will not reduce the selling price below an realistic and fair price, unless its an desparation sale, hence an stagnant market.

Indeed, if the asking price is £10,000 and nobody wants to pay more than £9,000, it's stalemate - nothing will happen.

Agree, its no different in the housing market at the moment either. Half the problem,IMHO, is that so many people have committed finance to the personal limit and now we have had a few rate increases on borrowing they find they have little spare cash to flash. In my own mind I would rather keep my car rather than let it go at silly low money. Wonder how much longer we will have to wait for things to improve tho!
