I can get 19% off a new M3, or any other BMW for that matter. BUT I cant sell it for 12 months. As I drive a E46 M3 I am quite interested in the new car but am I likely to loose money when I try to sell it on after a year?

I would imagine so. You're pretty much guaranteed to lose the 17.5% VAT straight off the bat, so the extra 1.5% isn't going to take much to lose.

In 12 months there will be umpteen on the road (and people will be offloading for next year's facelift).

Not such a great deal IMHO - but then again, I'm not that au fait with the BMW market.

PS - It's LOSE not LOOSE!!! Sorry - pet hate smile

why do you HAVE to keep it? How is that enforced?

it will be under a corporate purchase scheme I imagine - such as the one BAE systems have with Vauxhall.

The discount only applies when buying through the corporate scheme, and the resale restriction can, and will be enforced.

As for the OP - the question should be, do you want a new M3? if so, its a good deal. If not, it isnt.

Seems like a 'no-brainer' to me. Get a reasonably specced car for say £57k - you pay approx £46k. If the car depreciates at 'normal' levels, ie; like an RS4, then it's likely the car will be worth between £40 - 45k in 12 months time. What's not to like about that.biggrin

If your talking about BMW staff discount then actually ask them when they can supply the vehicle. It might not be as easy as you think to source one.

hmmm no clearer what to do to be honest, but thanks for the replies. In answer to the above I can order one today with no issues on delay.
My mind was set on the 135i coupe as its cheaper per month and looks a bit more chukable....
Confused

well you'll probably loose 30% in year one so if you're getting 20%ish off in the first place then it's much less of a hit to you!

It mystifies me that there are people who seem to believe that owning cars should not cost money.

OF course it will depreciate. Everything does apart from rare, older cars and a few new cars, for an initial period, while in short-supply.
