hello all,

i picked up my silver 56 plate vxr on thursday last week and thought i'd say hello as have been reading forum with interest for some time before buying the monaro (ignoring all posts about fuel consumption, tyres, road tax etc of course!)

got a couple of quick questions which i'm hoping someone will be able to answer for me...

1. has anyone else had the strip of led lights on the boot spoiler leaking and corroding ? mine have gone all rusty and you can see moisture inside it so i guess that's a warranty thing ?
2. should i have bolt covers on all my wheel bolts ? i seem to only have one per wheel (cover not bolt!!) not a major thing i know but just wondered...
3. Mats.... i spoke to someone else about this already who has what sound like some much nicer mats than the ones i've got which coincidentally don't clip down and are a pain in the arse...can anyone tell me where to get some decent monaro ones and do you have any pictures of them ? i think the ones i'm after are the ones with white piping around the edge and monaro written on them...
4. i've noticed that my centre vents don't seem to do very much... the back ones work, the side ones work but even if i close the others off the middle ones don't do more than a very faint waft of air.... is this a known problem ?

anyway thank you in advance for any advice you can give and i will be looking out for other monaros on the road to say hello to !

cheers

will

Hello.

Hope you enyoy the Monaro. Mine has rusty screws on the brake light. I have full set of wheelnut covers though.

I'll check the vents. On mine the side window ones don't seem to help. These cold mornings re a bit of a pain. I miss my heated screen and heated mirrors. But I love the V8 too much...

Amen to that! My wife was laughing at me this morning as her car has a font heated screen and demists in a couple of minutes. This is my first winter with the car and I couldn't believe how long it took to do the same but I still love it!

Hi welcome to the forum, let me guess your last car was a VR6? I am sure you will love the extra cylinders.

Hi there fellow silver Monaro owner (best colour imo!!!)

I had the same problem with the centre brake light. Seal on the back of the light had broken so moisture got in cuasing it to corrode. Took it to Vauxhalls and they replaced it under warranty.

Make sure they order the correct part - Waited nearly two weeks for delivery and they had ordered the one where the brake light is fitted into the boot rather than the spoiler, so had to wait another two weeks for correct one!!!

none, its a great car. i would ask Inchcape Newbury to take a look at the vents, i didnt notice a proble with them but they did replace a bit of scratched trim on upper the dash. Will is the GM there and knows me and the car well so should help you out.

Funny enough, my VXR came from Quickars and also had no mats and a misted hi-level brake light! I'm sure there's no connection though!

Andrew was commendably quick to sort me out a complete brand new set of mats, and the brake light is being replaced by Green's next week under warranty - was a long wait for the part to arrive though.

Quickars were very good to deal with, the only other issue which I had with the car at the time of purchase was resolved double-quick, and they've been helpful and supportive over a couple of other issues which were nothing at all to do with them or their service. Would recommend them.

Welcomewavey Hope your enjoying your new ride? Re the mats, I ordered mine through my local (non Monaro) Vauxhall dealer. Worked out to just under £100 for a set of 4. May have the part No's on the reciept if you get stuck.
