Putting The GT In GT-R
It's all about the details for the new GT-R
With the first official photos of Nissan’s replacement for the legendary Skyline GT-R already in circulation, further details of this much-anticipated motor are starting to be prised out of the Japanese marque’s reps at the Tokyo motorshow.
We already know that the Skyline name is now defunct, and that new car has been painstakingly beasted around the Nürburgring lap after lap in pursuit of the benchmarks set by the Porsche 911.
We also have the first very encouraging stats: it’s powered by a twin-turbo V6 with 473bhp and 433 lb ft, capable of propelling it 0-60mph in 3.5sec and with a top-whack of 192mph.
However, what we’re more interested in are the details, and first impressions seem to imply that the Japanese engineers have taken this to heart.
Nissan has signed-up Polyphony Digital – the chaps responsible for claiming a few too many hours of life through the power of the Gran Turismo franchise – to design the new car’s multi-function display.
It looks great, and we can’t wait to see just how high we can push the G-force meter when Nissan let us have a go. Please.
Edit: Not quite.
