My Chim has developed an embarrassing squeak which seems to be in time to the rotation of the wheels. It will pause sometimes depending on whether the steering wheel is turned either way or not. After a 4 hour drive in the rain it had stopped all together (and which was annoyingly when a mechanic came to look at it). Now it's started again. Any ideas? I'd rather not take it to a TVR garage if it's something I could get fixed by a regular local mechanic, but would like to have an idea of what it could be before I contact him again.
Thanks!
Thanks!
If touching the brakes while driving does not stop it then it is unlikely that this is the cause, as any pad rattle should stop as soon as pressure is applied.
It may be worth checking if anything has got stuck between the pad and the disk, and is causing a temporary squeal. If this is the case you could check the disc surface for any new scoring. If it is this it should subside as either the offending article or the disc wears away depending which is harder.
