OK - Who will win F1 Drivers title this weekend

My money is on Hamilton to finish 3rd, 4th or 5th .. just enough to take the title.

It would be nice to see this year just have a non nonsence race and finish without controversy..

Sounds like that is too much to ask for ...

Got £10 on Kimi earlier in the week at 14 to 1. The odds have now dropped to 8 to 1. wink

I would still like Lewis to win but as long as Spandard doesn't win I will be a happy bunny.

There is no doubt in my mind that Lewis will win the title on sunday! and the race, to take the title in style!

Hopefully then people will give him the respect he deserves! he is arguably the greatest driver of all time, and its a privelige to watch him race!

GO LEWIS!!! best of luck mate! (not that he needs it!)
wink

Part of me is expecting a turn out for the books along those lines, but I can't help but think Hamilton will put on one of his better performances.

How?

Kimi will have 108 points to Hamilton's 107.

No way will Alonso take out Hamilton!
If he does that, he has lost.
Senna was the best racing driver, Hamilton may come close one day.... Time will tell.

Yeah, but it would stop the championship going to McLaren, wouldn't it? I'm sure that with current mindset of Alonso, it would be a fitting way for him to leave McLaren knowing that he's screwed them. Again.

As much as I want to see Lewis take the title, I sadly think that the results tomorrow will be as follows:

Top three:

1. Kimi Raikkonen
2. Filipe Massa (after waving Kimi through)
3. Fernando Alonso

DNF: Hamilton - Mechanical

Alonso then sods off to Renault. Alonso then spends the entire off-season whining yet more about his treatment at McLaren. Kimi gets pissed in various nightclubs and gets his cock out in a lap-dancing club again. Hamilton dignifies himself by being gracious in defeat, shrugging his shoulders and saying "That's life. There's always next season...".

edited as best as I could to remove my points calculation cock-up and yet still leave the quote below making sense

KR would be WDC in that scenario.

What was I thinking?!?

I blame alcohol.

Yes, Kimi would have 110 points to Alonso's 109. I had Alsonso finishing third and then giving him 10 points for the win...

Whatever, I still thing that Hamilton will have a mechanical related DNF. Have either of the McLarens had a mechanical failure in a race this season? I don't recall one befalling either driver.

edited for yet another alcohol related mishap. Speeling this time..

For Lewis to finish 2nd or even 3rd in the standings in his first year in F1 is an outstanding achievment. Especially when you consider he has taken the title fight to the final round.

For Fernando, twice world champion already, he is currently 2nd in the drivers championship. For him it is a case of all or nothing. So what if he takes out his team mate? They are hardly bosom buddies are they? Its not like the situation for him within McLaren could get much worse is it?

For Kimi its a simular situation to Fernando. He has been steadily racking up points all season. Currently standing 3rd in the championship, you can be sure that he is going to drive the wheels off that thing this weekend.

So, we are left with a bit of a strange situation. All three drivers have nothing to lose. No matter what the result, the rookie has had an amazing season, and the other two drivers are behind him in the standings, so they will be going full tilt.
Alonso has a bit of an image problem which I think would only be magnified by having a collision with his team mate. And not just in a "he's not very nice" sort of a way. Since he's almost certainly looking for another drive Sunday evening, then having been seen in some quarters as a rotten team mate all season the last thing he wants is to confirm this by taking Lewis off tomorrow. More immediately, doing this ensures he won't win the world championship.

Lewis can't afford to crash out with either Hamilton or Alonso because it's odds on that the one he doesn't take out will win the championship. I don't think the fact that it's his first season will mean he will be any less eager to win it or cautious about throwing it away.

Kimi has the easy job tomorrow, he has to finish first or second regardless, then hope the McLarens don't score. But he has to finish.

All that said, I still wouldn't bet against the two McLarens taking each other off!
