I'm sure Mike Gaut mentioned someone down Maidenhead way who has been sticking Ford V8s in TVR chassis? Might be worth mailing him.

I doubt it very much because it's a cammer engine. Think the rovers a squeeze at the back, a cammers a lot wider then a rover and I think it'll foul the chassis rails.

The pushrod fords will probably fit though.

Edired to say it's 700 mm wide which is about 27".

Out of interest...what about weight and how this affects weight distribution, geometry, suspension setup, brake biassing? or would any weight difference not be significant enough for anything more than a slight front spring tweek?

Those cammers are heavy units although the aluminium versions aren't so bad. Thing is the lsx is a much better powerplant for dozens of reasons. Once you see the cammer workshop manual it'll put you off. I wouldn't use one if it were a gift.

Looks like a T56 box so hugely heavy and big and had to kit unless able to chop chassis - a no - no, starter is very high and likely wide at the point the chassis tapers back so you woul have to pull it forward to much a no - no, weight as per Boosted comments. Better ways to do it for same power.

Did you buy it then?
That seems like a bargain. I would have been tempted to buy that just to keep in "stock". Then find a car to put it in!!! (or turn it into a funky coffe table)

No not me. I would have bought it too and then found something to put it in but forgot about the auction and when I tried to login there was only 5 seconds left cry so missed it.

I thought that the 'new' supercharged option for the RV8 were turning out about 300 hp ?? If that costs 5K to do then this would have been a bargain I would have thought ??

lot more to it that just buying an engine as the box won't fit - tko will be 2k, custom exhaust 1500 at least, + price of the engine + electrics and loads and loads of other stuff 8k minimum if done right and no labour (i.e. doing it yourself).

SC RV8's do make good power if on the 500 - can't see the point of the 4.0 or the 4.5 just get the 5.0 and then start tweeking that if you want north of 300 with not huge outlay. Then you will need good brakes and suspension (2k minimum).
