MINI and BMW software - compatible?

I've had the airbag warning light on in my mini for a few months now, activated by removing the front seat to replace the sat-nav unit.

After the bmw main dealer was going to charge me £80 to reset the light, I told him to forget it.

While looking through Mini2.com, I noticed someone had got a tool for resetting the airbag light, so looked on fleabay and they are selling Carsoft software for resetting all sorts of things using a laptop, but it's for all types of BMW.

As the Mini and BMW share so much, such as the sat-nav stuff etc, is this carsoft compatible with mini's? Also, when they say an interface is required, what's that? When I used the software for a Cerbera, all I needed was the laptop and a RS232 lead. Will just a RS232 to OBD2 lead work?

Does anyone use the Carsoft program on their BMW and if so, is it just a RS232 to OBD2 cable that you use to link up to the laptop?

Interface is the cable connecting the tool with the obd socket in the car. Don't know if it will be compatible, though sorry!
