Fury/Stylus/Pheonix or similar in the south east?
Discussion
I've been pondering for a while what to do about cars. I love the idea of kit cars, though I have my reservations about finding the time to build a complete kit. I'd definitely consider completing a started kit, or buying a built car though. I'm looking mainly at Fury/Stylus or Pheonix style cars, 7's are lovely, but I prefer the fully enclosed bodies.
However before I get onto sourcing a part built, or taking the plunge and buying a starter kit I really need to know whether I physically fit in the cars. I'm just over 6'3", and have size 13 feet, so pedal boxes may be an issue! If anyone in the South East (I'm near Cranbrook, Kent)has a Fury, Stylus, Pheonix or something similar, and would be prepared to let me come and have a sit in it to see if I can get comfortable that would be most appreciated. I'm aware that I'm not to far from the Fisher base, but whenever I've tried calling I dont get an answer, maybe I should pop round there!
Cheers

Have a look on here http://www.clubstylus.be/ i think a couple live near you.
Have you got the right phone number, Fisher changed hands recently. My Phoenix has narrower foot well then standard, (I think I Inch) as Jeremy Phillips made me a one of Chassis to take a ZF gear box. I have size Nines and the car is un-drivable in any thing but driving shoes, being tall isn’t an insurmountable problem, but I recommend you check you feet fit. Try asking here

If you go for a bike engined version you can have quite a bit more space. The gearbox/bellhousing isn't in the transmission tunnel so it can be narrower and the pedal box made wider. Size 10s no prob in my old Phoenix and loads of room in my Fury. I have a couple of 6'5" mates with Furies and they have no problem.

Thanks for all the advice, I'll try and pop round to Fisher, its only about 3 miles away, might give it a go today, but I doubt they are open.
From the sounds of it the Fury can be more accommodating than a Stylus, Pheonix, but I dont want to dismiss those too completely so I'll see about getting a sit on one of them.

Fury is def wider in the chassis than Phoenix.
I have a Fisher for speed events and tried to sit in a Phoenix but it was too narrow, I'm 6,2. It wasn't my er fat but hip bones and this was with a minimal grp race seat, I got wedged before I was able to reach the seat.Stylus was fine same as the Fisher.
I've got a Sylva Phoenix and I fit fine (albeit not with much spare room), and that's being 6'2, fairly slim and size 14 feet. The seat in it is only foam on wood, so I use the full width and length available, but it's fine. Be aware of the height of roll-bar though - my head sticks up about an inch beyond mine, which would be a bit of a worry if I spent much time on the track.

If you get yourself down to the Plough Pub in Bletchingley on the 1st Friday of every month ( fair weather permitting! ) there is usually several Fury's, Phoenix, Striker, R1ot there for you to try for size. Maybe even have a run out in. You might be pushing your luck this time of year, but come fair weather there is usually several there. I have had Fury Fireblade and R1 Phoenix, I think the cockpit itself is a bit wider (allowing wider seats) on the Fury, but the pedal box is similar. I would advise always drive in driving boots just for the feel, I certainly cannot drive in my size 10 boots as thinks can get a bit ahem, hairy if you hit all the pedals together.....
I've seen a couple of Furys this weekend, and I fit perfectly
For a while I've had a hankering for a Fury (more than the others for some reason), and today I've agreed to buy the very orange Fury Fireblade in classifieds
I'll start another thread regarding the few queries I have for things that need sorting prior to collecting it.
