Righteo !

I hadn't considered one of these seriously until I took one out the other week and I abosolutely love it !

Im now trying to find the right car, but need to really buy from a dealership so I can trade in my existing car to make the change as easy as possible(2002 Ford Puma)

I seem to find massively varying prices wherever I look, so would appreciate some guidance from yourselves.

The local dealership has a 2006 5.7 non VXR Monaro with 7000 miles, 1 owner (Vauxhall South East Manager apparently... was this you?) and they currently have it up at 17999... does this sound reasonable?

I saw a 2004 5.7 up for sale up north at a Vauxhall dealership with 4500 miles in yellow (Wehay !) for 14999, but sadly it had gone before I managed to get in touch with them.... interested if anyone knows of any that arent on the network q website at the moment ... and would appreciate any other advice you can give !!

Sell your car privately before doing anything else, or prepare to get severely ass-rammed. Plenty of other advice to be given but others will be along in a sec no doubt. Just please don't trade your car in.

If you are stuck for transport, and thats why you feel the need to do a trade in.

Buy a cheapy taxed and MOT'd car to get about in until you are sorted with selling your old, and have bought your new.

Im sure there are plenty around for £2-300 that would do for a few weeks.

Was the 2006 car a facelift one? (bonnet nostrils, more power, twin side exit exhausts etc etc), if it is a facelift car, its a very good price from a dealer. We have a 2006 (56) facelift car with 10k on in silver for £19995.

Mine is a similar car (06 cv8) and I paid 22k back in Early May this year through network Q. Admittely it may have been slightly over the odds but I loved it so bought it on the spot. I'm hoping the depreciation these things levels out soon
Could be worse - could have bought a vxr8!

Probably because you were trying to help someone out and actually telling someone about a Monaro for sale!

This forum is pretty much going to pot, not much fun around here any more

At least it isn't yet another bloody "Spotted" thread.

"Hey, I saw a Monaro"

"It might have been me"

"Was it?"

"Dunno"

tumbleweed...

Very nice indeed, I bet if you needed to sell it then someone would snatch it out your hands for a few quid

Thanks for all the replies guys.

It wasnt a face lift, but thats not a bad thing, i'm quite happy with one with a smooth bonnet (my GF has a thing about 'spy holes' as she calls them... so it makes the process all the more easier !!!)

That VXR is absolutely stunning, but 18k really is the limit of my budget, and I doubt at 23 I could insure a VXR !!

(Incidently, 23, 4 years NCB, 1200 FC on the 5.7 monaro)

..that's a shame. Incidently I'm insured with Perfomance Insurance who quoted £900 on mine, and I do 25k business miles a year. The AWESOME exhaust and re-map (which is an absolute must) added £100. Have you tried them?

Oh and 17k was the limit of my budget till I drove a VXR...!

Happy hunting!

haha :-P

considering I was all ready to spend 12-14k on an s2000, this is quite a jump already !!!

I've been offered 3-3.5k for my puma trade... can't imagine I could get much more than that private to be honest though?

Why did you buy, upgrade and then offer for sale so soon ??

I mentioned this in an earlier thread - but basically I had the exhaust added before delivery.

- the reason for sale is because my employer pays for my fuel and it turns out the VXR is "outside of the guidelines". It was wishful thinking I guess, but they had no issue with my M3.

For what you'll lose come resale time I would have thought it would pay you to keep it. I doubt you'll get the cost of the exhaust back and 2 grand buys a lot of fuel?

In fact I've just worked it out...about 10k miles.
