Hmm, strange choice for a camera van but not parked illegally. Look again, the car is not actually within the confines of the crossing, it is parked outwith and entirely legally.

shows that those GPS efforts are still no substitute for a decent valentine and a sharp sense of observation, but then speeding in built up areas like that is very naughty, i cringe when i see someone gunning a supercar through town, thats what gives everyone a bad reputation so on the whole i support draconian anti-speeding measures in places nears schools, zebra crossings or housing estates where young kids are playing, its when they are on deserted A road dual carriageways that i get annoyed.

Why do you think it's being used to catch people speeding?

Because it has been in my local paper as well with this headline that's why.

I was under the impression that these were being used for parking infringrements etc rather than speeding (think they have them in Richmond).

Am also fairly sure I've seen a photo of one on its arse smile

Here:

Could easily be adapted for speeding detection no doubt, but to be honest if you don't notice a Smart car with a 3ft mast sticking out of its roof and camera stickers all over it whilst speeding in an urban environment, you probably deserve the points/ban wink

It will have no problem in keeping up with old mini;s, but Ferrari's, and Lambo's, well thats another question.

We have a similar situation in Manchester. A Smart with a periscope (no joke) poking out of the roof. It captures images 360 degrees. Its often sitting on Bury New Road on the way into Manchester just before Strangeways.

A quick question....is it possible to check if I have incurred a speeding penalty or do I have to keep em crossed till the 14 day period has passed and no mail?

AFAIK it's for parking and general traffic regulations etc, not for speeding.

gotta watch those height restrictions though wink

It doesn't look parked; it looks like it's waiting in the queue of traffic caused by the car on the right of the picture turning right into the road we (the camera) is in?!
