Bmw E46 warning light

Can some one tell me what the yellow triangle warning light is which is situated between the speedo and rev counter and just above the multi function display. I am on holiday at the moment and it has come on a couple of times, I suspect it is low brake fluid as the fluid level is getting towards the low level mark as the pads will need changing before long. Advice please Rob

Is this not the traction control light?

Has it just flickered on and off now and again, maybe when turning out of T junctions a little briskly or on a loose surface (gravel, mud, etc?)

If I am right on both counts then do not worry, its supposed to do this.

I think your right, it probably is the traction. It came on and stayed on when I stopped and still stayed on at stand still which seems strange. It went off when I tuned the engine back on.

Its traction control...if you turn traction control off the same light comes on...the button to do this is near the ashtray.

It seems ok today, if I have the same problem again I supose I can always turn the traction control off.

Yeah, I'd just keep an eye on it, if it starts coming on (without flickering, just coming on solid) then it may be trying to indicate a problem with the traction control (DSC or DTC, whichever you have) system. However in that event it should be on all the time, ie stay on after you restart the motor, perhaps. I'm not 100% sure, but this seems logical to me. Have a look in your handbook and see what it says.

Try not to do emergency stops in future. Any skid or hard braking will bring this light up as it shows when getting used.

Watch out in the bad weather on ice and snow or even when you hit a large puddle.
