Daft question about points
Discussion
When your newly qualified you have so many points before a re-test, so I'm just taking my bike licence and I read 6 points and you have to re-take, I already have 3 on my car SP30
So if I get 3 from now on, will that mean a re-test? Do they count bike/car seperately?
Not that I'm planning on getting anymore

in so far as i am aware even if you commit an offence within two years if you take the matter to court and are convicted outwith the two year period then you will be ok. However if you just accept a fixed penalty notice then you will get the points from the offence date and therefore will fall subject to the new drivers act. If you are caught for anything then take it to court, string it out, so your next points would start on conviction date and not offence date.

Whether a matter is resolved in court or not is irrelevant to when the points become 'effective' - that is dictated by the nature of the offence. And with regard to the OP's quesion, if you have held a car licence for more than two years then you are no longer considered a 'New Driver' and, as such, 6 points would not see your newly acquired motorcycle entitlement revoked.

The 6 points rule as you arre aware for the first 2 yrs since you pass your test any other test after that just means that you are adding an additional category of vehicle to it, so, the 22yrs starts from the first time you pass your carr test.
