I recently struggled to find a replacement off side window motor and regulator assy for my 1982 Tasmin. I could not identify the part from my vehicle as it had no part numbers or identification.
I contacted David Gerald who had been very helpful in the past and they advised that they had a near side one for a few hundred pounds but that I would struggle to get the offside.
I read in the Wedge apistles that the motors came from Rover SD1's - so I contacted Rimmer Brothers who had just negotiated and brought back several container loads of SD1 spares from India - apparantly they were sent there back in the 80's to be built into cars - this never happened and they stayed there ever since. In these containers were lots of window motors and regulators which Rimmers sell at a very reasonable £20 mark - they are brand new and require only a small hole to be drilled in one of the arms to fit the cable that limits the window lift.
I thought I would pass this on and hope it may be of use - at those prices it may be worth changing any tired window motors you may have while these spares last.

I will also vouch for Rimmer Bros

I got one of the new window motors for £20 (+ Vat + Del)
but it broke down within 2 weeks - probably 12 up and downs
and they swapped it out no problem
(and no extra delivery charge!!!)

Also if you need and pay for it they can be delivered following day

Well done to the guys at Rimmers
from a very satisfied customer

Cheers

Richard

The cable is the upper limit only, TVR also drilled and put a bolt into one of the metal plates to limit the down movement before it drives into the base of the door, when fitting you need to fit the bolt to the new one.
