Noisy tamora on start up
Discussion
Pick up my 2001 tamora yesterday after a year of blis in a Chimeara.
The two cars are chalk and cheese. Chimeara a sports car, Tamora super car; HOWEER….
Oil pressure seams high (top of the bar when moving) and this morning (very cold) the car maid a noise which sounded like no oil going round the engine until I had been a couple of miles?
What wrong????

Took mine out early Saturday morning - pretty cold - the Oil temp started at 10 deg. Seemed not to be a problem.
The latest warm-up posts suggest a 5 second 'blip' at 1500 revs. Presumably this is to get the oil moving so may be worth trying.
I'm sure there will be some more knowledgeable posts along soon!
BTW, welcome to the Chimaera / Tamora upgrade club.

Earlier cars were noiser from cold than the last models. Can only assume TVR made some tweaks to the engine along the way. Example: My May 2004 T350 (engine built around April I guess, wasn't sitting in a showroom for ages) was quite rattly when cold. Performed just fine though. I had a head gasket failure in summer 2006. The factory did something as now the engine doesn't make any rattles when cold - its slightly 'noisier' until warmed through but 10% of the rattles and clonks it used to make.
I'm not saying the later car is better, but that many older Speed Six engines are quite noisy when cold. Treat it gently until fully warmed through. Best thing is to drive off and not leave it idling (lots of discussion on this stuff).

I take it you are following my recommended tamora starting process, ie fire engine, drive immediatly, dont rev over 2500 rpm until at least 60c oil temp, then only upto 3000 rpm until 70c, then let it fly. The two cars are chalk and cheese. Chimeara a sports car, Tamora super car; HOWEER….
