Travelling west on A14 on Saturday, light traffic, about 6pm at approx 80mph I failed to notice a police volvo parked on a bridge above the other side of the carriage way. Can't think he would have been doing anything else other than clocking cars below. There was a wire type fence between myself and him but I'm still waiting for the postman to bring bad news. What's the likelihood I'll have been done and what device would he have been using?

I reckon you're ok.

Whilst IMHO 'the police' will happily do you at 73.6mph on a motorway an individual trafpol will be more interested in dangerous driving and *really* excess speed.

Except Madcop who's so busy troffing dohnuts and trying to tune his radio into the Rotterdam Audio P*rn Channel that he wouldn't spot a 38 tonner at 100mph on fire and filled to the gunwhales with illegal immigrants. ;-)

I'll get my coat...

Reckon you should be OK. 80ish is very close to the ACPO guideline of 10% + 2mph tolerance.

If they weren't using a laser gun then I think the only other way they could have measured your speed would be VASCAR (having previously timed themselves over an observable section of the road). Finally, I would have thought if they were interested they would have tugged you personally (fnarr fnarr).
