Which cam for 8V?
Discussion
Hi, I am running a TSR 2 litre 8V which currently has a standard cam and breathing. I have ordered a tubular manifold and I am having a 2.5" system made the next thing is the cam?
Anyone running either a Piper 285 or a Newman 268? My ideal powerband is about 2.5k to 6.5k I want a good power increase and prepared to sacrifice a small amount of low down driveability but don't want it to be a complete pig around town.
Any advice welcomed please.

The Piper 285 not ideal for road use very lumpy idle poor low end power good top end gains. Suited for track and rally in a modified big valve head engine. You also need a veriner pulley extra £90 to get the best from this cam.
The Neman 268 is a good all round cam does not need a vernier pulley retains almost stock idle, very good fuel comsumption and very good low down torque.
The Newman 272 is a slightly more focused cam loosing some idle quality giving more top end power.
Yep we are Newman camshaft dealers.

Thanks Philip, the engine has a TSR Pack C big valve head already fitted, is the power gain from a 268 significant enough to warrant it as a performance upgrade? Is the 272 O.K. around town and does that require a vernier?
Also can you quote me if you are a Newman dealer?
