In traffic earlier. I could hear a siren coming from somewhere. Everybodys heads a turning searching for the police car/ambulance/whatever. It wasn't till the traffic lights changed that it became obvious that it was the grey astra in the lane to my right and behind me. I'd looked at it and there were no flashing lights at all.

Who would use a siren without flashing lights?

It was in Wolverhampton if it's of any interest.

One of our Inspectors unmarked cars has a siren but no lights, not deliberately as it's an old decommisioned panda with the lights & livery removed but the siren still fitted.

It can cause no end of confusion if some plonker uses it.

You could have seen a similar car.

Could be the switch didn't go on properly! I've done a response run in a marked car before- The "Siren" and "Everything on" buttons are right next to one another and I don't think it worked first press of the button, therefore I just hit "the" button again...

Needless to say, after a fairly lengthy blue light run wondering why no-one was moving out of my way (Had the sirens on, so I didn't notice) I realised the blues had not been on!
