Tamora fast asleep!
Discussion
The battery on my tamora is flat.
so flat that i cant even open the doors
i have the jump cables but they're in the boot.
wot do i do?
oh and i have AA membership but without home start.
if this was my micra i'd somehow get it away from home and then call the AA.
So is there any way of opening the boot?
and its in the garadge with not much room to take the wheel off.

just out of interest, how long had it been left before it went flat?
i ask this because i only use my t350 at weekends... i always intend to take it out for a run round the block at least 1 night per week but when it comes to it and its so cold and wet i rarely bother... is a week too risky at this time of year?
it is in a garage but although i have a trickle charges i dont have a powerpoint in my garage so its no good!
just trying to avoid the nightmare situation of a non-start!

I've left my Tamora for 2 weeks at a go with no problems starting (recently, mountain biking has been taking priority over driving at the weekends), although this is infrequent as she normally gets at least one run most weekends. She was left for three weeks recently, again no problems - but she had been on a big run shortly before that (400 miles or so).
I believe that if the boot light is left on (e.g. boot not closed properly) it can run down the battery at a surprising rate (but this is anecdotal).

My Tam stood for 6 weeks off its Accumate and still let me in. It wouldn't start though and the RAC had to pay me a visit, I now religously plug it in everytime.
Suggest you ask about the Immobiliser as well when you call your dealer...and possibly a battery conditioner.
All the best getting you P&J back to life.

Yes there is but with a PH history of 7 posts & only 2 months I don't think any Tamowner right in the head will tell you on a public forum...so flat that i cant even open the doors

Mail me & I'll come to your house & show you though.

ps You probably need an accumate/optimate charger (if you don't use the car daily)
or a new battery. How old is the car?

Send me a private email if you want details of how to retrieve your jump leads.
thanks to him and his instructions got it all sorted. the battery is not holding the charge, i got it serviced 1 month ago and asked them to check the battery, they said its fine but the car is year 2002. so a 5 year old battery? do you think it needs replacing. shall i replace it my self?love_my_tamora said:
if the volatge is shown as 12.4 it will start up anything lower and it wont start. when im driving it shows 13.6 v? is this normal.
13.6 is normal, but that won't be from the battery - that will be from the alternator. My alternator went kaput a while back. With battery charged and engine not running the pod read 13 or so V. When running, the voltage gradually dropped until the engine cut out.The battery is relatively easy to get to even though you'll be jacking the car up and removing the wheel. However, I seem to remember other threads on here about fuses needing to be replaced when changing the battery.
You can get an accumate from the web and use the cigar lighter socket which is a permanent live or do as I did, and get the dealer to fix it in the boot and wire it up directly. That way, you just pull the plug lead from the boot and plug into a socket/extenion lead.
And yes, two weeks without dying is usual so your battery sounds FUBAR.
lol frazer_guest i did eventually get into it a few days ago thanks to a piston head member,,,,,,,,,,
so my alternator is fine coz it shows around 13.6 whilst engine is on.
i did change the 100amp fuse under the airbox a month ago,
ill change the 100amp fuse in the passenger footwell today.
ill change the battery in a few days too but im worried the millage might reset to 0,,,,, as mentioned in other threads,,,would it be a good idea to connect to another battery via the jump leads before removing the main battery????? which could precent the millage coutn from reseting..
another thing, my garage doesnt have electricity so no tricle stuff!
