Anyone else selling their Cerbera been contacted by someone wanting it registered in Germany? If your interested in the comments about TVR and Cerberas see below.

"Thanks for your price reduction in the advert but it isn't cheap enough - SORRY TO SAY: TVR is DEAD.
Kindely look over all "pistonheads" offers and check ebay.co.uk, latter is where all end, but won't be sold neither.

There will be NO furture market for spare parts for that cars especially not for the V8engine.
IF you don't share my opinion you're about to learn it painfully - please forgive for that hard words.
Keep your car running or give it for a bargain - that's the conclusion, isn't it."

Tell him that in light of him being a nonce, the only thing that'll be making it's way to germany from you is a lancaster full of horse manure, perhaps attaching a link to "the germans" episode of fawlty towers on youtube or similar.

I had a similar one from England, about one of my cars.

He was going on about how it was over priced, and should be cheaper etc.

They're generally, "fishers" who haven't got a pot to pi55 in.

Give him the yellow card for time wasting.

Hmmm... scratchchin Triumph is dead, Austin Healey is dead, if AC isn't dead it's certainly in a dormant state... so if anyone wants to dispose of their TR5s, Big Healeys and original Cobras... I'll even give them some money if it needs be.

Whenever I would get such al call, I´d answer him "f... off" and rang up. That´s it. But I´d never discuss it the way you do it. It´s not a question of nationality, it´s just a question of beeing serious or not. It´s goog that me and my German friends discuss things on another level. Your discussion reminds me on my grandparents, guy´s it´s 2007 and not 1945. An asshole is an asshole whether he´s German or whatever.

I agree with you. I just wanted others to be aware if this is a scam, not because he's German.

This was the first email I received.

I am xxx from Germany. Aged 44, married, 2 sons. After some years slow driving (family limousine) I'd like a fast british car now, have chosen to contact you beause of your Cerbs colours black/black.

I hope you won't get exasperated by reading direct comments here.

1. a reasonable price would be 11500 brit.pds. cash, sorry - that seems to be the autumn market average for a good MY97.
2. I'd arrive by plane - would you meet me at a convenient airport in your vicinity ? We could talk, watch car and papers, may conclude towards a deal ?
3. may I consider the exhaust legal by means of catalysed and not infringing noise emission requirements ?
4. as I'm not a profesional in automotives and would import the Cerbera by my own, I had to drive the car on a british registration back home via the channel. That's a kind of risk - I'm not informed whether there is a possibility for you in the UK to arrange some short term insurance/transfer registration? I've found out: after arrival here I would fill out section 11 of V5C - send that to you, and you may discontinue the registration at your DVLA. I can't arrange number plates from here, german authorities only offer export plates - no import plates. This is valid additionally for car insurances - very sorry about that.
I have no trailer nor contacts to respective professionals, I have to game a bit on your trust, please.

In case you may initiate a contact I'd be glad to here from you..............many Thanks !

I am Dutch and proud of it. Sorry to see that our neighbours ask these silly questions.

Cars like Cerbera's weren't built in Germany and they will never be built in Germany (or Holland). Therefore we want them! It is Bloody British and hopefully it should stay British. However there are nice German's too. They just need to inform themselves better about the possibilities. When somebody wants a beauty like a Cerb they should pay the price accept the export document that goes with the car and have the risk/costs for transport themselves.

I sometimes get silly people on the mail also when selling something(Nigerians with beautiful stories). In the end they even threat you and your family when you do not want to make te deal in the way they want.

Just let them rent a transporter and come over. If it is an interested enthousiast he will do that.

I'm going to take a wild guess smile, that the guy sending the emails isn't German.

The "I've got two lovely kids" routine sounds like a "I'm a trust worthy man, we've known each other ages, can I leave you with a bankers draft" blag.

In fact, he's half started......Reading the mail, he sounds like he wants to take your half of the V5 with him, and post you the "imported" part back

If you want to get rid of him, explain in advance what the terms of payment are going to be, that normally does the trick.

Regarding the V5 part.If its anything like the Dutch authoritys, then he would need that to register the car in Germany. No German insurance company will provide him with cover to drive the car from the U.K unless its registered in Germany.I had exactly the same problem earlier this year, when a Dutch buyer bought two vehicles from me.In the end i provided two 17 ton flat beds at his expense to transport them to Harwich.

Blimey, I didn't realise selling a car could be so much hassle.

I wouldn't give anybody my half of the V5, I couldn't care less where they're taking it smile

What ever happened to the old "I've come to see your car, I like it, here's the cash, goodbye" type of buyer.

Why do people feel the need to tell you their life story prior to coming and looking at the car.
