I know they will be highly highly variable between regions etc, but would someone be able to furnish me, or point me in the right direction of outline figures for operating a retail outlet on a £/m2 basis or similar - purely to do some fag-packet maths? Things like insurance, electricity/rates etc etc etc.

Also, when you look at carrying out your own footfall figures, is there a percentage uptake people would use or do I stick my wet finger in the air for that?

All help gratefully received!

UK DIY stores (Homebase, B&Q, Wickes) do about £160-170 per sqft per annum, but they are big box out of town retailers not high street.
(Multiply by c.11 for £/m2)
If you want more specific data decide which public company sells the products closest to yours (e.g. sportswear = JJB, fashion = H&M etc...) then go to their websites. Click on "investor relations" and download their latest annual report.
They will most likely say what their average square footage was for the last year. Take their sales and divide.
