It's for a dailey commuter.

50 miles a day, 20 on the m/way, 5 on the lanes.

Now do I buy a nearly new Panda 100 at £7999 or a base model 500 1.2 at £7999?

Panda 100hp, the 500's a cracking little car by the looks of it, but the 100hp will be sportier. I'm sure the Abarth variant of the 500 will be great, but it will cost more.
Pound for pound.... Panda(:

Get the Panda. They look fantastic and I am sure will be more fun than a base 500.

Or a 500 100hp, still way under £10,000

Well yes, but you didn't mention that in your original post!

This month's Evo has a test of both Panda and 500 100s.

Panda for fun on windy roads, 500 for posing in town.

Beleive me, the Panda's a lot more fun, but the 500 feels more quality inside. Have a go at both of them before spending your hard-earned dosh on someone else's recomendation. My mom has a Panda 4x4 and I tell you, it's a solid little vehicle so I'm sure with such a stiff chassis, the 100 should handle like a kart!

Are prices out for the 500 now? I guess discounts will be a long time coming...

I have to think about the 100hp one, the sport is £10800 ish, the Pop 1.2 is £7995, the Pop is available with the 100hp lump apparntly, I await the price on that.

Really no idea what colour to choose, I'll be contacted in 2 weeks to spec the car, all I have at the moment is a place in the queue for the first batch of deliveries on 21st Jan at 10AM (500hrs into the new year)

I quite like the dark solid blue with the chrome trim, bluetooth/ipod kit & dark windows.
