Mk V Golf GTI DSG Bluefin
Discussion
Hi guys
A friend is considering leasing a Golf GTI DSG with a full maintenance package.
The Bluefin "chip" update looks pretty good, a worthwhile boost in power.
My friend has two questions:
1 - If you "delete" the Bluefin software before the car goes in for a service is it detectable? Can you then upload the software again (i.e. it doesn't only work once?)
2 - Have any of you experienced the Bluefin on the DSG GTI - is it any good?
Many thanks

Yes, about 300! I think they just stick their fingers in their ears and sing "I can't hear you I can't hear you I can't hear you I can't hear you I can't hear you..."
I guess it would be fine for a time or indefinitely if driven gently... but that isn't why we buy these cars and it isn't a risk I'd take given the replacement cost.
Audi don't offer the S3 with DSG for this reason.

That's a pity as the DSG box sounds great.
Looks like it will have to be the manual then (in Candy White with the 18 inch wheels).
Superb choice that man, by far my favourite combination Looks like it will have to be the manual then (in Candy White with the 18 inch wheels).

DSG box is limited to 250 torques - tread carefully as they're stupidly expensive to fix.
Is the DSG different in the R32?Interesting - I bought a GTi-DSG today from the local dealer. 18 - months old with 11k. My wife has the 140ps diesel, with DSG. Does that not make more than 250 ib/ft? Or maybe the 170 ps diesel?
I was considering some sort of after market chip for the GTi. I may need to tread carefully then.
Thanks guys

No reason why you can't change engine maps if you have a "plug & play" type REVO stick. Just reload the standard ECU map before servicing.
Yes, you can get remaps that are safe for the DSG box - the torque gains are more limited without compromising the bhp boost. Contact Red Robin over on Tyresmoke. He has a GTI DSG and has had his remapped. Don't think it was by Bluefin though.

The limit is actually 350NM (256 lb ft) rather than 250 lb ft, which is what the ECU in the 170 BHP car is limited to.Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
