Can't progress my job seekers allowance claim

As I'm currently unemployed but looking for a graduate job in IT, I thought it would be a good idea to claim for jobseekers allowance.

Problem is, I filled in the form online no problem, and when they rang me up I was out or busy at all times so couldn't take the call.

I've rang up my local branch, the call centre, and so forth, but I keep being given numbers which send me round in circles so I can't book another interview over the phone, which I missed. Why can't I just give all my details online at once?

Obviously I can't fill in another claim again because having the same NI number on their system twice will make it look like I am trying to do benefit fraud. How can I cancel my existing claim or actually get to the next stage with my existing claim?
