I have electrical gremlins
Discussion
Hi there, I have a few probs with the fan switches working on occasion, the window washer squirters activate when the head lights come on and the cig lighters don't work.
Simon is pretty handy working out how to fix electrical stuff, but would anyone be kind enough to provide us electrical diagrams for my car.
Or if there is a website with provided info, that would be good too.
Cheers

Kylie,
Sorry to hear of your problems. Electrical issues can be truly aggrevating on these cars. I cannot forward the diagrams as my documantation doesn't include them for your model year.
But, as I've stated, ad nauseum, 90% of the electrical problems in an Esprit relate to poor earth or ground connections. Have Simon check all the ground connections for corrosion and tightness. Also, a little trick I use is to clean all connectors and then coat them with anti-seize. This has a very high metallic content and is very conductive. It will seal out the air which oxidizes the surface of the connectors.
It comes in 3 'flavors', Aluminum, Zinc and Copper. I personally use the Copper for it's superior conductivity, but any of them will work well. Hope this helps. Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE

I had similar such problems on my '89 non-SE. The mirror motors would not work. I found that many of the male spade connectors push back out of their sockets when attaching the female connectors into the plastic junction fitting. Two people were needed, one to connect the female plug and the other in the boot to hold the male part in the junction fitting. One of my relays did the same thing and I got a Code 26 for it.
The washer is another problem. Pull off the button and see if the spring is still there or the connection isn't tight. It needs to CLICK when installed, otherwise the connections jiggle in the stalk making the sprayer work intermittently.
