New Lamborghini owner & the owners club
Discussion
I've owned a G, as you all seem to call it, since August. The realisation of 34 years of saving and planning. I am not monetarily wealthy but you only live once. Dare I say I also belong to the two wheel brigade and have had many years of pleasure from them.
I did belong to the owners club about ten or twelve years ago, and for the most part found them to be freindly on the surface, but when it came down to trips and meals there ideas were way beyond my pocket.
Looking into the club from the outside again I find it hard to understand the membership cost. I have belonged to many different clubs yet none have been so expensive as the LCUK.
I mean no disrespect but at twice the annual cost of any other club I belong to, what are the benefits that I would reap from being a member that require the membership to be so expensive?

THIS POSTING IS WITHOUT PREJUDICE OR ANY INTENDED MALICE!
LCUK's £70 annual fee charge comes to the Club from a sub-500 membership roster...
There are STILL less than 800 actual Lamborghinis in the UK of all types and ages as far as I am aware so we don't have >> quite << the depth of numbers that other car clubs have.
A sizeable number of LCUK's members own two or more Lamborghinis. Two of our members actually have 5 of them, which is just a bit greedy, but so what?!?!?!!
We believe that we have an actual 'majority' coverage of many of the older cars that have ever been to Britain and which still exist and have a rapidly increasing number of Diablo, Murciélago and Gallardo owners as well.
We have a (steadily decreasing %age-wise!) number of non-owner members, quite a few foreign-based members and include personnel from Automobili Lamborghini SpA at Sant' Agata in the mailing of most of our publications and promotional material because we know who our friends are!
We never exclude ANY of our members from any of our events, in any way or at any time.
Some comparison data:
TVR CC's annual fee is approximately £48 and they have over 7,000 members according to the TVR CC website.
Porsche Club GB charge varying amounts but usually £66 a year and they have over 15,000 members, again according to their website.
The Ferrari Owners Club charge £80 a year and an additional £20 each year for their quarterly magazines. I can't find any reference to their membership numbers on their website but note that they have a sub-club for non-owners to join which often gives these sub-members access to events that actual owners go to - lucky them!
LCUK provides as much material as possible, as often as we can for our members - especially members who take an active part in the Club. Being active within LCUK is what we all strive to be, at least as much as we are able. Surely any club is better that way!
We have a number of arrangements with the various UK Lamborghini concessionaires both official and semi-official and also with associated businesses. These arrangements and our own 'network' of information and traders provide many cost-bufferings to LCUK members for our events and for maintenance, servicing and parts costs for their Lamborghinis.
We also have some ongoing agreements with a number of insurers as well and are often asked to confirm valuations for older Lamborghinis that are mostly outside a particular insurers reference.
By the way, if you didn't already know, LCUK has it's own little corner of PH where we can all natter about Lambo-stuff if we want, or the price of tomatoes lately... joining LCUK gets you in there as well...
Our website is a little dormant at the moment because it will be relaunched very soon and will be much more proactive, active, capable, useable and other such words but will look much the same - ie, the best Lamborghini club website in the world in terms of appearance and useability.
Lamborghini cars are, we believe, exceptional in a way no other cars are or can ever hope to be.
If that sounds like some elitist snobbery or a very biased viewpoint, well - you would probably be right to think so but please look at the number of actual Lamborghinis in the UK and the world and number of members of LCUK versus other UK clubs. If you think I'm a Lambo-snob then you're right, I am!
A query for Caelum Blue - which car club bills you £30 p/a and what do you get for that?
Info. for UV - LCUK has no particular deal or arrangement with LHW.

XXVIII thanks for the info. Yes you do sound biased but you would be, and I can't blame you for that. So Ferrari owners get screwed by their own club - interesting.
As I said I was a non-owner member of the club once before and I have to say it was in the politest way possible a bit elitest. I am hoping that due to the reasonably priced Gallardo more "mortals" would now be members. I hope that LCUK can strike a deal/arrangement with LHW as they are my nearest service centre and the thought of driving my car in London makes me ill.
I may well join the club, when does the membership year run to and from? (I've been caught with that one before, paying for a whole year and only getting 8mths)
Answer to your question, all five of the motorcycle clubs I belong to cost less than £30/yr one has nearly 2K members and another 700ish, each provide a monthly magazine and put on events and have deals with suppliers. I guess as they only have two wheels is the reason why they seem to cost half as much.

An interesting thread this.
I am a member of the Lotus Seven Club which costs me £37.50 a year. Don't wish to directly compare given there are, I suspect, fewer members in the LCUK and appreciate this is different for me as I do own a Caterham Seven, but it has been suggested to me on a few occasions (eh XLV
) to join LCUK and as much as I would like to, I struggle as a non owner to see what value I would get from it. In the 7 club I get a monthly magazine, attend monthly area meets, get involved in many trips and events each year and obviously benefit from car related club discounts.
With the LCUK obviously I can't benefit from discounts, wouldn't have as many opportunity to fully join in with club trips and only see the magazine and pistonheads forums as benefits and as much as I enjoy any opportunity to drool over lambo related stuff (I used to love reading Bravo years ago when my Espada owning friend was a member!)is it worth £70 to me?
I think Mystic was keen for me to join as I had a big camera round my neck at the time which I am sure he could find useful
(only kidding Nick!) and others suggested it because, quite rightly and just like Nick, they are members and passionate about their club, just like I am about the L7C.
To the OP, all of the people from LCUK I have met or chatted to on here have been nothing but lovely and welcoming and I haven't experienced any elitism. To me the answer is unequivocal, if I owned a lambo I wouldn't hesitate to join and suggest you do the same and start enjoying all those benefits!
