I have read through as many of the older threads as possible but am still stuck with my issue!

Unlocked the car, got in to start it and on pressing the black button, everything went dead and the alarm kicked off.

Got out and closed the door (typically window not fully shutting) and now cannot disarm the car. Every time I try to plip the car, the siren goes off. Curiously no flashing indicator lights.

I've tried re-setting the alarm with no result. I can't open the car to unlock the bonnet and get to the battery, so I feel like I am really stuck!

I can't just leave it tonight as it's wet weather and the window's not closed!!!!!

All suggestions gratefully received.

I can't abandon my baby with it's window half down!

Besides, all of my funny t-shirts are in the wash, and I'm certainly not going to turn up looking normal. biggrin

I would suspect big fuse. This happened to me from time to time.Took the fuse out and it was green on both ends with a hair line crack running through it.Changed it and never had the problem again.

I assume that would be why I am not getting any indicator flashing when the alarm goes off?

I would suspect so.Change the fuse ,clean up all the connections including the battery terminal, and grease up all the connections. You will be surprised what a voltage irregulartory can do to the electrics on the Cerb.

You can either spend hours tring to sort this problem, or give Carl Baker a ring on 01730-231772 or mob. 0772-0723407 (be consderate about Social hours etc etc). He will tell you what is wrong and offer a suggestion.
The batteries in the Meta Alarm don't last forever, and when they start 'dying' the alarm can start doing strange things, like chirping intermittently and going off for no apparent reason, it's the alarms way of saying "I'm f00ked".

Ok, for once I did as Phil suggested and went to the Surrey meet. The coincidence is that Carl was there!

General consensus is that it's probably the battery, but be prepared for the big fuse as well.

Looks like a day off work to fix it tomorrow then.

Thanks for everyone's input. biggrin

Any luck Ian? Gimme a shout if you're stuck and I'll pop over, I'm about most of the weekend.

Thanks Steve, I appreciate the offer but I think I will be ok. smile

I've now checked the big fuse (and it's fine), so I am assuming that the battery is knackered. 4 hours of searching locally has been fruitless in finding a battery to the required spec.

Has anyone got a reasonably regular make/type installed, and could they let me know the reference details, please? The local suppliers all seem to stock sizes that are about 2cm too tall!

I got so cheesed off today, I am considering forking out loads for one of the odyssey gel batteries!

I got mine from ABS batteries in Guildford. It was the right height, but I had to dremel some of the tabs off the case to get it to fit.

Steve.
