With the release of the Canon 40D, the 30D’s are now being sold of cheap……so I brought one (decided it was time for an upgrade from my old EOS 30). With a new camera and some holiday time to burn can anybody suggest some good locations to shoot a few pictures at this time of year?

Based in Nottingham so within travelling distance (Dover, Cornwall, Inverness etc are a bit far). Hopping on a plane and shooting some pictures north of Glasgow’s is perfectly possible though (Inverness not so).

Was giving some thought to hiring a decent car and taking the camera to Wales as well.

Suggestions please.

Find a local Arboretum and get thee down there - great colours this time of year. (if you like leaves and shit like that)

Derbyshire: It's near to Nottingham -
Ladybower reservoir, Buxton, Bakewell, Chatsworth House, Mam Tor, Dove Dale, Shining Tor, Ilam

Just stick a pin in the map and go shoot!
Then post your pics up here.

Before you venture afield, I think there is a forest type thing near Nottingham. Probably good for autumnal looking things smile

For things on a smaller scale, there is a bonsai nursery up Ollerton Rd in Arnold. Some of those wee beasties can look amazing in autumn.
