Help, need SVA info
Discussion
How is the emissions test measured at SVA?
Is it using a standard MOT style gas analyser or does it undergo full Euro spec testing (in my case Euro2), using rolling road etc?
Might sound like a silly question, but I have the option on a cat for the Marlin. I am told it will pass the gas analyser test no probs, but not sure it would get through a full on emissions test.

The level of emissions test is dependant on the year of your donor engine.

SVA states that any engine manufactured from August 1995 onwards, must be fitted with a catalyst (i.e. you don’t just need a cat to get through the stricter emissions, you have to have a cat fitted – period).
Yep, that's why I'll have a 200cell racing cat that will meet the emission regs. I can't find anything in the manual that says you must have a cat - just that you must meet the "cat" requirements if the engine was manufactured after a certain date. I think they'll let you use a rubber fish in the exhaust if you like - as long as it meets the limits!
Also, it IS definitely done on an ordinary MOT tailpipe gas analyser with the engine under no load and not the full rolling road "Euro" test.
