Discussion
Fronts now worn and MOT, winter, etc etc. I recall someone moving discussion on 'what tyre' somewhere, but can't find it. Anyone have a link please?
And whilst at it, as I track a fair bit, am attracted by the Toyo R888. Any views on (a) the tyres and (b) mixing with Potenzas on the back (these are not yet ready for replacement)?
Ta, roger

(b) Don't mix types of tyre front and back as it seems to create serious instabilities change all 4 at the same time.
See the thread Dangerous Toyos? All of the problems seem to stem from different tyre types on the front and back.
I've just fitted new Toyos all round on my Griff along with 16" wheels on the front and the car has never felt so good. Rock solid and reduced understeer, not pushed too hard yet as I'm running them in but first impressions are fantastic.
Thanks David. I had read the dangerous Toyos thread, but hadn't made the link to the front/rear mix. In the interests of science, I will buy all 4, and try replacing the frot only first and see what it feels like. Will post a finding, but this isn't likely to be for a couple of months.
i have just bought four R888's from tvr monster (andy) i am running standard 15/16 front and back and have replaced toyo t1r's
i have run approx 200 miles since new and they are far superior to previous tyres.
Grip good but when wet just keep aware that these tyres are also run on the track so aquaplaning is real possibility.
