Hey a quick question, I have done just over 2000 miles on my bridgestone BT014's, GSx-R600, and the rear has begun to square off. It is not too bad but is getting worse, my commute is mainly to blame as it is slow straight roads rolleyes. Anyway my question is simply is there anything I can do to round them off again or are they on the way out already? frown

I had the BT-014 on my ZZR1400, they are a sports tyre and the wear quickly, as already said the best thing to go for is a sports touring tyre, you wont notice the difference with handling (unless you track it) and they last longer. A good bet and compromise is the Mitchelin Pilit Road 2CT, where the middle of the tyre is a harder compound. If you commute on motorways etc then you will never be able to get rid of the squaring. If you want to stick with Bridgestone so you can keep the front, the BT-21 is a very good sports touring tyre.

All the best JD

lunch time hoon around the industrial estate?
or as said a touring tyre. i'd vote for the BT-021s as well, served me well in the past. 2,800miles with a lot of lugggage including motorways from essex to north scotland on a camping trip resulted in about 1/4 wear near the center, no way could you call the tyre square though. it wasnt quite round but it wasnt near square.

Thanks guys for all the replies. Sounds like I am gonna have to invest in a file for two reasons, get rid of the chicken strips wink and to round off the tyre. They should really include one in the tool kit .. biggrin

I will look into a touring tyre for winter and just have to spend a bit more leaning off the bike to see if I can not rescue this tyre.
