Hi,

I still have a slightly dodgy wheel bearing that I'm actually of a mind to sort out myself. I know there's some issue finding part numbers but I'm kinda tempted to take it apart and find out the parts from the bits I end up with!

(will post them and add to the wiki as well).

However this kinda goes inline with a general desire to take the car to bits and do things with it.

Now there surely isn't any Haynes manual for an M12 GTO (hehe), but is there any other suitable reference material for the grinning amateur armed with a torque wrench and an unhealthy amount of enthusiasm?

I'm also aware I may need a few more tools (maybe a blowtorch and a press), if anyone feels like beating me around the head with everything else I would need feel free!

If you're not in a hurry I've got the part number for the rear wheel bearing. I left it at work amd I'm currently on holiday so I will take till Mon / Tues till I can post it.

Yes please post part number ASAP.

Typical, I now think mt rear left wheel bearing has gone. It's making a scrapping noise (pulsed in line with speed) and it goes when turning left but back again louder when turning right. (can anyone do it as I have a mate who works from home on every day cars)

Is CV joint another possibility or some crap has got in someware?

Hi Bondy

Your symptoms sound very similar to mine - especially if it fades / is quieter after warming up.

Mine was caused by the hub nut coming loose, I know you've had your Noble longer than I so you probably already know this, but its worth checking the hub nut is tight (270Nm to save you looking it up).

I'm not likely to get time to try mine until next weekend (off to drive Nordschleife on Wednesday, woohoo, although not in the Noble, booo) - so ditto the request for Yes Please on the part numbers!

I hope so, I'll try it when I get the time but may not be for a couple of weeks. just dont the grate south run today in gale for 8 and driving rain. not going to move now for at least two weeks.

lol, we made the mistake of driving into Portsmouth yesterday and got somewhat lost/delayed/stuck in it all. The running did not look like fun!

Part number quoted by NobleLondon is "MOA1-03-2105-L" and cost me £51:37 + VAT.

Made by QH -Quinton Hazell
Part number: QWB831

I needed a 'Retainer Ford C12332 j6(Wp) pms. nO mfl001 .. However my friendly mechanic friend said that the clip he was sent was the wrong size.. so check this.


Oh and the rubing sound you describe is just what I was getting.

Maybe being a bit thick but would this not be the same kit for the near side?

Also are you saying get kit QWB831 and check with them that the retainer in the kit is the one above or do I need to get that separatley?

Yes quite sure that the offside would work for the nearside and my work mate agrees (95% certain) but I can't say 100% it is the same 'cus' I've not tried.

From what I understand from the machanic he was sent the bearing kit AND a retaining clip. It was the clip that was the wrong size). So you need to get the clip seperatly. If you have other transport I would get the kit and be prepared to run down to your local motor factors shop for clips etc, which will be off the shelf items, if needed.
