Urs Erbacher carries European hopes to the USA
Discussion
As we know, Urs has been getting a lot of help with guning from Glenn Mikres over the past two seasons. With Urs making the trip to the USA for Vegas and Pomona (and, I hear, leaving the setup there for the early part of next season as well), I was worried that with Glenn being contracted to look after Scott Kalitta in the DHL Funny Car, that Urs would be lacking the calibre of tuning advice we'd all like to see him get. With this in mind, I was delighted to read Andrea Wucher's piece published on the fabled pages of eurodragster.com , where she talked of the support of "our two Americans" whom she named as Rick Johnson and Wayne Dupuy. I don't know Rick Johnson that well, but I'm pleasantly surprised that Urs has managed to secure the services of Wayne Dupuy. He is one of the hardest working and nicest guys you could wish to meet and also a veteran Nitro tuner who has tuned pretty much a "who's who" in fuel racing. Most notably, he tuned 6'5" Doug Herbert to a 4.46(ish) second pass at 330(ish) mph in 2005 - possibly even in the same chassis that Urs now owns. Urs is in good hands. Let's hope that Urs has the inventory of parts that Wayne loves to throw at the track.. Good luck Urs!

And what a lovely pic that is, Suze! (tell me you WERN'T wearing your Erbacher leather jacket when you posted that! Lol!)

Lovely pic taken by Auto Imagery and with remote side-flash illumination for a terrific evening shot.
4.594 seconds at 326.48 mph makes Urs the quickest and fastest European, ever. Even if he didn't progress any further (which I think he will) Urs can be mightily proud of his and his team's efforts thus far.
It seems that Wayne Dupuy has got all the horsepower that Urs needs to give our American friends a fright. May the teams' efforts continue to be rewarded with success.

Interesting interpretation of copyright there, Richard :-) But does anyone know what Urs has written on the side of his car? My best guess is "FIA EUROPEAN CHAMPION 2007" at the top, and "???? HERE" underneath. I wondered if it might be "OVER HERE", but it didn't look quite right:

Either way, good luck Urs! It's always nice to see Europeans go over there and not become instant cannon fodder...

Urs smokes 'em in Q3 against Doug Herbert - perhaps feeling a little uneasy against racing his old car? Not at all - he runs really well & Urs hits smoke.

It sounds like it was recorded down a toilet - so whack your sound up to the max and you can hear it okay.

Urs just made his first qualifying pass at the Pomona World Finals meeting, today. A 4.84/297 second pass - but I think it cost him $1000 because there was a big oildown after the run. If you would like to listen to the audiocast of the pass, click below:-
