Strange goings-on under the bonnet...

Mondy 130TDCi....

Under load, motor sounds like a ton of pebbles sliding down a metal sheet...and down on power

Putting out copious cloud of black smoke...

It started making this racket a while ago, but disappeared when I started using BP Ultimate diesel...

Having to avoid rev range 1500 - 2500 to keep it going reasonanly well...

Any ideas? These oily beasts are a mystery to me...

And why the hell can't I get a diagnostics appointment at Ford dealers for days or weeks...?

Sounds like overfuelling/too much EGR. Happened to a mates once - one of the air feed pipes had sprung a leak. Check all intake hoses for leaks/holes.

Diagnosed as too high start up pressure at the injectors...
