Do 360/430 owners trade up to a 599/612?or are they , as i suspect a completely different demographic profile? , also any UK sales figures for 599/612 -reckon 599 outsells 612?

I think the 599 outsells the 612 by quite some margin.

yeah im pretty sure they slowed dwn production of the 612 so they could ramp up production of the 599

i have a 360 and would look at a 430 next...maybe.

a 599/612 is a totally different car, more of a tourer than a hooner imho.

so i probably wouldn't consider one instead......as well as maybe, but not instead.
(at least i would if they weren't so damn ugly!!)
the 550/575 are much nicer looking machines

why don't ferrari make pretty cars anymore?

Looking for a new 430 2 years ago when there was a bit of a wait, I was told by a Ferrari dealer that there were no cars available, unless I took a 612, in which case he could supply a 430 immediately (!!!)- they just want rid of the bloody things. Shame really, as it is a great car

i agree the silouette is graceful.

however the front and rear lights......
almost as bad as the original morgan aero 8!

the front and rear ends (even taking the lights out of the equation) are not particularly pretty.

if you(rather like clarkson on sunday night) compare the current crop of cars to historic (not including the 80's cars...348, TR etc) metal then can you really say that the enzo, 430 and 599 are beautiful in the way of say a dino, 365 or even some of the older stuff?

maybe not, but 40 years ago it hadnt been done before, where as now most things/designs have been done to death so its harder to come up with something original and beautiful..........the 599 on Top Gear the other night hit the buttons for me and once they are £60K i will have one!!

thats a fair point, but you can still make pretty cars, and the 599 could have been a much nicer looking machine.

in terms of technology, it's a tour de force, however if you parked it next to something else, even say a 575, i believe it would be found wanting.

beauty is subjective however so i'm happy to agree to differ

The 599(desirable though it is) for me has worrying shades of 94 supra and mitsubishi FTO
