I have recently put some new front dampers and new tyres all round on my Chimaera. The car feels very light at the front and not at all planted.
I have changed the tyre sizes to 205 50 15 front and 245 45 16 rear with 24psi front and 26psi rear. The car accelerates superbly with the wider rears but cornering at speed feels scary.
I would be grateful for any ideas!
Cheers! biggrin

What size tyres were on the front before you changed them?
I was never happy with the weighting feel of the Griff front end until I changed to 225 tyres at the front and it transformed the weight feel, although it does tramline more now.

I had 205 55 15 then bought some estorils with 225 50 15 and the weight felt good but they caught on the battery box.

If you've bought Toyos people say they need a few hundred miles to bed/scrub in, might be a little slippy because of this maybe ??

Yes they are toyos but I'm pretty sure it's not that, the stearing feels really light as if I have little control. It almost feels like there is only air on the front, no tyres yikes
Would lowering the damper settings help?

Drop your tyre pressures a bit V8 Devil
Standard settings I was given are 22F / 24R

Although, I played with tyre pressures with the last tyres and really couldn't make that much difference.

idea
Something just struck me - are the tyres directional and are they on the right way round?

Hi Barreti,

I will try the tyre pressure change and see if that helps. The tyres are definately on right, I checked when they fitted them. Thanks for your help!
