Hi folks.

Pretty self explanitory title I guess. Basically I've been out of touch with PC gaming for quite some time since the advent of consoles being good, particularly the 360 which I love. Prior to that I was big into PC gaming and was regularly seen on games like Battefield 2. With the winter night drawing in I'd like something to keep me occupied, the missus does a sterling job but I had something more game orientated in mind.

I'm quite fancying getting my hands on one or two especially good PC games as I've recently built a really nice PC, something that I can waste a few hours on a night or weekend on handing out headshots and such.

As you might have guessed I'm generally into FPS games, but anything that involves a bit of strategy, shooting people / things and stuff would be great. Anything as good as BF2 was in it's hayday would be even better.

Is there many PHers playing multiplayer PC games online, could be good fun having a little clan or something on a decent war game if there isn't smile

So, any suggestions ?

haven't played CSS for years now! Loved it back then so might give it another whirl.

Quake wars I hadn't considered, any good? have you played BF2 or BF2142 for comparison?

Cheers for the suggestions so far guys

I still play BF2 & SF but am desperately looking for something as good to replace it...as are quite a few of the BF community I think. COD 4 is tempting although I couldn't get the demo to work & I'm deffo going to have a look at Quake Wars if I can get that demo to work furious , but I think the weak point is (apart from my game-play in general hehe) the damn PC!

I'll be following this thread with interest smile

I was thinking the very same today.

I was a big BF2 fan until a week ago when I redid windows, installed BF2 again to get a game in and then I got kicked by Punkbuster. I have since inquired and it seems my serial number has been bared. It has been suggested by Punkbuster that I'm modifying my game or someone else cheated on my pc or someone was using the same code as me.

What ever it is (I would like to fit in here, that cheating is not my thing), I have now got a reset BF2 login with no points and well I can't be bothered to start again with no unlocks lar de dar de dar.

So I'm looking for a new game like the original poster.

I have downloaded the Crysis demo and the Call of Duty 4 demo. I have herd that Crysis, although a very graphics rich game, is more a single player game as opposed to great online play.

What have the previous Call of Duty games been like online as I rarely play offline. Thats what was good in BF2!

call of duty I've always found a bit, well rubbish if I'm honest.
Very similar to Medal of Honor really.

Before that I used to play Tom Clancys Raven Shield.

quite liked raven shield, as a general rule I love the clancy games, though I'm still obsessed with R6 vegas on the 360 smile

No. I've mainly played 1 player games but my bro is a professional at these games and he's deserted CSS, Planetside etc. I often play with him, when he's on line.

and although I've enjoyed other single player games nothing has replaced it - yet

used to play BF2 all the time untill my DVD wouldnt read anymore and now EA wants me to buy another copy . . . . . . .

thats possibly why I like steam games even more, no crappy "buy it again" excuses.

BF2 was good when it first came out, although a little buggy. However I became irritated with it when they didn't really address some of the gameplay issues and the fact that I still can't tell when I've hit anything!

But I can't play the game any more thanks to some mix up.

Was tempted by these racing games so I could join in with the PH arranged games but I've since noticed that most of them are on the 360 which I can't say I have.

Oh and DucatiGary, my DVD cracked, so I backed the DVD up to an image and ran it from the hard drive. Have been doing so for ages.

Does Punkbuster not catch you on that? Where as a Imaged CD is allowed.
