problems with 5 series on 199p reg, dealer has no clue

hi,

uncle has a T reg 5 series and had problems with it which were fixed by the dealer. its now been back 4 times in past 4 weeks as there is a light which they say is a circle with a triangle in it and the ABS light comes on and off all the time

he said car drives fine and brakes fine and dealership have no idea wots wrong with it.

head office got involved today and will be calling tomorrow to help

would it be just the sensors playing up being as ABS light is on and car is driving and braking fine??

any help would be good

When you say braking fine do you mean that the ABS cuts in under heavy application and works as it should?

yes the ABS works as it should

found out some more things

BMW changed nearly the whole engine with new parts to the total of £2350 or just over i think, asked wot was changed she said the list they gave her is too long to read out.

they changed the ABS system wen she took it back couple weeks ago and put the ABS system on top of the ABS sensors and didnt check the sensors so wen it went back they changed the sensors

the speedo is also not working nor is the Odometer

bmw upto now have charged jst over £3100 for a car with nearly new everything mechanically but is still not working

plus they have charged her £70 x 4 for roadtests which they say the car is fine, plus they have broke their key which was new and only 3months old but say thats how it was and every time she gets the car it she puts petrol and wen she gets it back after taking it to them it has no petrol plus she has to keep putting diesel in the 1series they give as courtesy car and dont deduct or do anything about the fuel they use from her car.

anyways the BMW head office guy is wondering why the dealers diagnostics isnt identifying the problem but said by tomorrow afternoon she will have answers

Just a hunch, but it sounds like the speedo sensor is knackered and is confusing the ABS and traction control which is why the lights are on.
