... but I'm thinking of driving down to Italy in early December. I seem to remember reading a few posts here about people taking their Monaros on European tours ( can't find them as the search facility seems to be a bit rubbish! ).
So, how does the Monaro fare as a grand tourer? Any tips on preparing it for the journey? I've yet to experience icy conditions with it, but obviously as it's winter I'm going to take it easy! Probably stop over half way there, so it'll be about 1200 miles in 2 days. Has anyone done that length of trip in that time?
And yes I know the sensible thing would be to fly and hire a car, but where's the adventure in that?

Did 1400km once in one hit... did it for the weekend... up on the friday night, and back again on the sunday night.. That was just to get the commodore registered in Queensland.
If you are going to Italy... good luck mate.. absolutely madness place to drive there. We drove in and drove straight out... think they give the drivers licenses away there in corn flake packets..
We are over there for new years this year... going to be interesting..

Sounds like I winner, which I was expecting but just needed confirmation that I'm not going to kill the car! I've been to Italy a few times and I'm fully aware of their driving standards! Last time I was in Rome I noticed they didn't even bother painting road lanes any more, not that it made much difference
I've not driven in Italy myself before, always been ferried around, so I'm slightly nervous about taking the monaro there!
