I think my battery has had enough of this world (it won't hold it's charge) and I'm keen to replace it before the winter.

However, I don't have any evidence of a radio code - does the Monaro need one? The owner's manual is boxed as I'm moving soon (don't ask!) so anyone know before I phone P and feel stupid?

Ta!

Yeah, you will need a stereo code.. Vauxhall should be able to give that to you if you qoute the VIN number.

dont be so sure. I've had my battery disconnected several times for lengths of time and the code, touch formica, was never needed. If it is anything like the Nissan set up the radio will have coded itself to the car

You could of course connect a battery pack or jump leads from another vehicle to your battery leads prior to you disconnecting them from your duff battery.Hence no disruption in power supply to radio and no need for code. idea

Removed radio and fitted aftermarket unit to my previous car. The radio was in a cupboard for 12 months. Recently refitted the radio when I sold the car - it fired up straight away, no code needed.

If anyone leaves their p+joy for any lenth of time without running it, then strongly reccomend an Optimate or other such trickle charger as used by Bentley and lotsa bike owners. Still on my original battery on my 2000 Kawi, optimate cost me £40 compared to a new battery that I would probably have needed by now at £80+. Allways left with the alarm on and it fires first time I want it.

Great idea if your car is garaged and not sat outside on the drive...

There's a way round that. The Optimate bit of kit comes with small leads that you bolt to your terminals with a small plug on the other end. You could then route this through the front grill or under the bonnet lip. The lead from the charger is of a reasonable lenth to reach from a powerpoint, all you need to do is remember to unplug before you drive off. Not the most ideal solution but it is doable.
