Tom Tom Problem
Discussion
When my 700 does weird stuff like that and I have to reset it more than twice in a shortish period, I run an update for it as there usually is one.
Mind you, the current update is a bit boocks and I'm waiting for another that unboocks it. Until then I just live with it and am patient. It's still a stonkingly good piece of kit for not much money.
btw, ensure it's 100% charged (on the mains) before you press the reset. I found that had a bearing on the outcome. Also, wait 2 minutes between pressing reset and getting a result.

When mine went blank it wasn't long before the reset became ineffective & I had to send it for repair. They will suggest you try downloading the latest software but I think it's a hard drive problem. See my topic on the 910GO. Good luck!!!
Most of the time they do just need a simple software update which solves the problem. Interestingly, when a unit does need to be repaired Tom Tom will always replace the motherboard, which suggests there may be a problem with the hard drives. I work for a place that sells them and the honest answer is we only get a tiny percentage back with a genuine fault so all in all they are pretty reliable. As for the reset, for some reason they come on what's called Transit Mode and need a full charge then reset to take it outApparantly some are fixed by deleting the "clmdata" file at the top level.
It is re-generated on switch-on.
Mine stopped booting after an update because my host computer had dropped a few files on it with names beginning ._, to check your TomTom do a full listing of the SD card/hard disk with showing hidden files and arranging by date order so you can spot them.
On Linux/Apple the command line is something like "ls -lart /Volumes/TomTom\ Disk"
