Westfield SE changing from x/flow to Zetec power
Discussion
Hi all I've done a few searches on this subject which have been helpfull but I still have a few other questions that some of you may be able to help with.
1. How do I decide exactly where to position the new engine?
2. Will I have to weld new engine mounts to the chassis?
3. If I purchase a second hand engine how may other components will I need to source and where from?
4. Has anyone got any views on the Alpha PRO4 Turnkey EMS?
5. I presume this will be worth the money and time and will be a significant improvment over a 135bhp kent engine?
Sorry if these questions seem really dumb but the last time I was messing around with kit cars x/flow engines were state of the art!!

1. As far back as gearbox clearance in tunnel will allow, then if it goes way back, make sure the stat housing isn't too close to the chassis. You'll need to make sure you have clearacne between oil filter and steering column too. Might involve skewing motor to the left and/or using a remote filter housing (ask me how I know).
2. I did
3. Sump (Raceline or the place I got mine, can't remember ARRGH , starter, waterpump from an Escort, alternator mount (Westfiled/Caterham), water rail or plumbing, (Retro ford, Raceline, Westfield etc.) Clutch, any parts place. Westfield Zetec manifold or similar. Re the starter, if you are using a type 9 box, go for a Brise or similar or you will likeyl suffer heat soak startup problems.
4. Nope
5. Stock 2l Zetec on TBs & Westfield exhaust made 168 in my car and it feels a whole lot quicker than it did with the xflow we used to have in it (which was usual 1690/234 cam/big valves etc spec)
