I'm selling the above at the moment but having little joy. First question is my ad ok? Should I tweak it a little?

Just readvertised it last night at a lower price so maybe this time it'll go but I'm sceptical. I actually advertised it for the first time in June but I wasn't particularly serious about selling it then and the price was in hindsight too high. Since then its been on EBay twice and last night it failed to meet its reserve, in fact it only reached £1,850. Since the car has been advertised (EBay, Pistonheads and Autotrader), not a single person has been to see it. I'm convinced that the first person to see it in the flesh will buy it, as its a terrific car.

Trouble is I've been looking to get an Elise but really need to sell this car first. So what are my options:

1) Take the hit on an increased price and buy an Elise trade, part-ex'ing the BMW?
2) Sort a couple of bits on the bodywork and readvertise it as near mint?
3) Change advert to exclude any faults in the hope of getting people to see it in the flesh (I've always prefferred the honest approach from the off)?
4) Readvertise it on EBay using a different technique or maybe even a local car auction?
5) Try and sell the car at my Folk's place in Birmingham in the hope that it'll pick up a higher buyer catchment?
6) None of the above?

I don't think there's much wrong with your advert, but it's a buyers market and price is everything.

Cheers mate. Food for thought. I've had a couple of emails this evening so we'll see if they come to anything but I've had an awful lot of timewasters already so not getting my hopes up.

Trouble is, if the price gets much lower, its getting to the point where it hardly seems worth selling it, given what has been spent on it, but as they say, somethings only worth what somebody is prepared to pay for it.

Your add is fine, the car looks the part, comes across as being genuine and well looked after and is a good price.

The problem IMO is the autobox, I think most people in the market for one of these, particularly the sport version, will be looking for the manual gearbox.

It almost seems too cheap. It's in good nick, it's not done mega-miles, it's got all the kit...most of these are going for £3.5k+

I'd agree that the fact it's an auto might hamper it a little, but I'd be surprised if it sits around too long at that price.

Cheers for the replies gents. The auto, I'm sure narrows the market, but obviously there is nothing I can do about that. I'm not sure about the too cheap thing. Lots are advertised for a lot more but I'd be suprised if they're selling at that.
