He's like a barmy old grandad who just says the first thing that comes into his head! Surely the FIA can take a vote of no confidence in him..?

It would be surprising if Hamilton didn't know something of what was going on (in spy-gate), but I've got absolutely no evidence that he had.

"There is always somebody new. If it wasn't him it would be either [Nico] Rosberg or [Robert] Kubica or one of the other new stars, a [Sebastian] Vettel, would suddenly be the big one.
Utter rubbish. Yes, those drivers are good and yes, team owners and enthusiasts would be talking about them. The fact is though that 90% of people who watch F1 only really care about who gets on the podium and who's going for the championship. This year, the public cared about Kimi, Fernando and Lewis. Surely the fact that it was so close at the end means that Lewis wasn't head and shoulders above the others and 'ruining' it?

Personally, I think any governing body spokesperson should remain completely neutral.

What is it with this Mosley chap????

Everyday he comes out with some senile comment which does no good for the sport and gives us no confidence in the governing body. Why is such a multi million £ sport ran by a bunch of money grabbing amateurs? With the new 10year engine freeze and alike F1 is going to be on its knees and this guy and stumpy Ecclestone are the route cause.

All the manufactures should ditch F1 and leave Ferrari/Mosley/Ecclestone cartel to themselves.

It's quite embarrassing to read, really. This year, in particular, he's shown his true colours. What a vile and bitter man.

It's a shame the BBC didn't draft in Nigel Roebuck for that interview to tear a few strips of Mosely.

How can a titanic battle on the track seen in 2007 (forget all the other FIA prejudiced detritous that occured off it) be bad for the sport...?

2008 season will be even more competitive than 2007 - it is up to others to raise their game to meet Lewis head on.

Mosely is as Mad as bag of cats, compromises himself and the whole governing body of F1 when he airs his misplaced views. He should be completely impartial and act as an ambassador for the sport.

"Mosley added that it was "very unlikely" that Hamilton would be installed as champion following a hearing next month into the results of the season-closing Brazilian Grand Prix"

If he really did say this then Mclaren should go straight to law and fight it out in a courtroom.

He should resign over this statement alone. I don't care who he's said it about, but the FIA president should be the person to stop gossip and speculation, not start it.

I don't normally post, but that BBC article really wound me up - how can anyone like that be good for the sport.

The entire purpose of F1 is to build the fastest cars given a set of regulations and put on a great show... so when they get a fast rookie driver Max and his pals want to slow him down? ... I'm sorry... what?

Max Mosley says something negative about Lewis Hamilton shocker!

I feel bad for Max, he should have thought carefully before being in the slightest bit negative - now he has incurred the wraith of the Hamilton supporters amongst you ; )

Interesting that Max says:

Asked if he thought Hamilton had known more about the Ferrari information being in McLaren's possession than has come out in public, Mosley said: "He's not a known quantity to me.

"It would be surprising if he didn't know something of what was going on, but I've got absolutely no evidence that he had. On that basis it would be wrong of me to suggest that he had."

It's quite incredible really. And worryingly, it's only because he's had more coverage in the media this year that we've heard this stuff. You have to assume that Max has held these sort of opinions for years.

BBC article said:
Mosley added that it was "very unlikely" that Hamilton would be installed as champion following a hearing next month into the results of the season-closing Brazilian Grand Prix.
Well, that's settled then. Why bother holding the hearing?

BBC article said:
"So I think there is a tendency to exaggerate the importance of Lewis Hamilton."
I might agree with elements of that, on an international level, however I'm not sure ITV's advertising salesmen, who have seen viewing figures as much as treble, would. Moreover, the importance of having increasing numbers of drivers who can challenge for race wins and titles cannot be underestimated.

And most worrying:

BBC article said:
"That [Ferrari data] was in the hands of the chief designer at precisely the moment he was designing the 2008 McLaren," Mosley said.

"The difficulty we have is that you're not going to find on the McLaren a part that was designed by Ferrari.

"What you may find are ideas and at this level of technology at this level of motorsport, if the idea is given to the chief designer he will make a component utilising that idea which bears no relation at all to the component perhaps being used by the other car. So we will be looking for the ideas.
Oooooooo-kay. I'm going to test what odds I can get for McLaren getting a penalty before the first race of 2008. I would think it almost impossible, even against an impartial tribunal, to defend yourself against that kind of allegation - it's wholly intangible surely!

BBC article said:
"It will start to be negative because we'll get the Schumacher effect where people start writing to me saying can't you do something to slow him down."
"Dear Mr Mosley, this Hamilton chap is simply too fast, we don't want another Schumacher effect on our hands now do we, not at their team anyway. Can't you do something to slow him down a bit? If it helps, I've posted the designs of a new aero design that we never used, to his new place in Switzerland, signed by someone here who keeps whining on about how we should bring back that ugly Brawn fellow.

Lots of love, Jean"
