Can anyone tell me what this means please?

Gladly. Often a popular request by the first posters, especially in the general gassing section. Cheers
So welcome, and in answer to your request for the meaning of "this", enjoy!
1)
a. Used to refer to the person or thing present, nearby, or just mentioned: This is my cat. These are my tools.
b. Used to refer to what is about to be said: Now don't laugh when you hear this.
c. Used to refer to the present event, action, or time: said he'd be back before this.
2)
Used to indicate the nearer or the more immediate one: This is mine and that is yours.

(leaving aside the question of how this is car related) I think the salient point is the use of the possesive in the singular and the plural, thus Stu's pedantry is the singular while the PHers' pedantry is the possesive form when applied to a collective noun. I hope after waiting 17 months to ask this question, the answer isn't too disappointing.
