Heated Mirrors
Discussion
Commonly come on when you first start the car, then a timer (located under dash with flashers on aux relay panel) switches them off after 5 mins or so. If you open the door this will switch them off, and hence I guess your courtesy light timer relay must also be operational. Some later cars alternately had a switch arrangement I believe.

why do you need heated wing mirrors as the cars are only used in summer.
only in summer?
hell's teeth man, use the bloody car as it was supposed to be. Next thing we'll be hearing is that the windscreen wipers are exchanged for dusters cos the car isn't used in the wet!and £4.50 replacement? Quality stuff I take it.
