Wii - 3 Months later...any good or just a flash in the pan?

Hi All,
I've been thinking about getting a Wii for the multiplayer / gameplay for those evenings in over the winter - is it worth the outlay or does it quickly become stale? I had loads of fun playing Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 the other night at a mates place and almost went out and bought one the next day!! Opinions as sifted from various searched threads on here seem fairly varied but most input seems to be from fairly new owners.
So how are you all finding your Wiis a few months on? Gathering dust and back to GT4 / Counterstrike / rFactor or still happy?

Play it occasionally, Super Paper Mario was good and I still need to finish it, Mario Galaxy is out in a couple of weeks and will no doubt see it used a bit more, but I'd say it's a bit of a novelty item rather than a serious gamers console, I certainly find myself on the 360 a lot more.
I can thoroughly recommend Metroid Prime 3 by the way. Fantastic game. Not the hardest one in the world, but certainly very good and the motion controls do work very well with it.
Is the Wii a flash in the pan? Unlikely. Given the sheer numbers they have sold, it will continue to be a force for the near future at least. What Nintendo needs is a good couple of core releases, and then this will lift its reputation from a simple games console to something a little more serious.
There are a raft of new games and peripherals coming and this will open the market even further, but to expect to see the likes of Bioshock on the Wii is a little far fetched. Nintendo have never really gone for that market before and I suspect they will just leave Sony and Microsoft to fight it out. However, capturing the market above and below the 25-35 gamer market seems to be their tactic and so far its working well.
Sony and Microsoft seem to have targeted the 25-35 year old market and saturated it with games that are pretty much the same. Oh look, yet another 3d shooter with big guns and monsters / Nazi's / aliens. Its getting VERY formulaic and with no real innovation it will die off very quickly. Maybe I am wrong, but the same old story with some subtle changes will only last so long. Pushing the graphics doesn't actually make the game any better though. Yes, it might look good but without decent gameplay then you are stuffed. There are a few notable exceptions, but its very sad that there is no real innovation at the moment.
Nintendo have the closest thing to innovation, but even then they are playing it safe with existing IP passed off as new games. It might work for the short term, but they really need some massive new IP with innovation. Time will tell though, but we might be in for an interesting couple of years.

also agree the library is a bit poor at the moment. But Zelda is excellent, Metroid Prime gets great reviews (not got it yet myself), one can but hope Mario Kart will have the awesome gameplay of the old ones .... so the future seems bright (but then I love some of the Nintendo franchise games).
Also the virtual arcade has some truly awesome games available now. Recommend Sin and Punishment (N64), Zelda (Snes), Legend of the Mystical Ninja (Snes) and Streets of Rage 3(Megadrive) to keep you amused for a few hours.

I rarely use mine, I've only got Wii Sports and Wii play at the moment as i traded in Tiger Woods 07 and Marioland 8 as they were both rubbish.
Im tempted to sell it, but i might give Metroid Prime a bash first as that looks quite good.
I do think they have a future, but for any serious games player, just walk straight past and buy an XBox 360.

For me a flash in the pan .. I went round to a mates some months ago after he got one, thought it was great fun and bought one a few days later with Sonic and Wii play.
For a week or so I couldnt get enough and played it every night.. then quite quickly got bored with it. I dont think Ive put it on for a good couple of months now.

I've had mine about 5-6 months now and it still gets used but I rarely use it to play proper games. We often load up Wii sports and have a few games of tennis or bowling. We also use it quite a bit for viewing photos and a bit of internet surfing. For 179 quid you can't go far wrong.
I received my Wii last December on the day of it's release, along with a good selection of games. At first the console was the best thing since sliced bread. The games were involving in the way you played them with the remote and the majority of games appealed to more than just hardcore gamers ... Family friends or a couple of mates, the games were perfect for a bit of a laugh!

I waited for more games to be released - Many were the same format, more mini games. Then there was Need For Speed Carbon ... Great game, but awful controls!

I'm living in Japan, whic h means that I get to play Mario Galaxy a couple of weeks before you guys do. I'm not really a huge fan of Nintendo (so far this millennium) and I wasn't expecting much, but Mario Galaxy is one of the most amazing games I've ever played. Remember how revolutionary Mario 64 felt? Well, this is the first time I've had that feeling since 1996... and I'm starting to like Nintendo again.
The problem i have with the wii is they created one of the best games in wii sports and took an eternity to follow it up. Why didn't they release a tennis game with the likes of federer etc? a baseball game has just come out, theres tiger woods but Golf is boring and there should be a boxing game with the likes of khan and calzaghe. How good could that be?
I had one for 4 months, but after bowling a perfect 300 game, got bored very quickly and sold it for a 360.
Good if you've had a few jars with mates, but if you play on your own, novelty soon wears off.

I agree with the sentiment that there's not an awful lot available in the way of games at the moment... hopefully that should be better come christmas - there's a whole bunch of good stuff lined up.
For me I think the next thing to buy will be the Resident Evil light gun-style game with the Wii zapper.
